Mentos and Coke

November 9, 2006

Everyone's Talking About Mentos Science

Experiment:

  1. This activity is probably best done outside in the middle of an abandoned field, or better yet, on a huge lawn.

  2. Carefully open the bottle of soda. Position the bottle on the ground so that it will not tip over.

  3. Unwrap the whole roll of Mentos. The goal is to drop all of the Mentos into the bottle of soda at the same time (which is trickier than it looks). One method for doing this is to roll a piece of paper into a tube just big enough to hold the loose Mentos. You'll want to be able to position the tube directly over the mouth of the bottle so that all of the candies drop into the bottle at the same time.

  4. Don't drop them into the bottle just yet! Warn the spectators to stand back. Okay, you're going to drop all of the Mentos into the bottle at the same time and then get truckin' (move out of the way… so long… bye- bye… hasta la vista!)

  5. It's just like fireworks on the 4th of July. The spectators erupt, of course, in a chorus of ooohs and ahhhs. Someone yells out, "Do it again" and you do.

NOTE: NO, the e-mail you have received is not true.  Nobody (a boy in Brazil??) died doing this combo >>see here.  … and here!

Mobile Gaming for FREE!

October 31, 2006

as what my blog title claims, i would not want to let you guys down.

so, in the spirit of giving (tips, at least), here are a few web sites i stumbled upon offering FREE DOWNLOAD OF MOBILE GAMES!  Yes, you read it right! i've actually tried a couple of them and have some favorites of my own.

i'll give you the boat and you learn how to fish, okay?

here goes…..

first on the list is a link where you can read about how to get stuff (wallpapers, ring tones, software, etc..) to your mobile phone for free.  a usb cable goes a looong looong way, but it wouldn't hurt to do a virtual inventory of such an undertaking…..i prefer OTA (over-the-air) downloads because i'm on a subscription plan.  well, what are you waitin' for? go back and click!

next, here's a new web site, recently launched and promised to fight for our rights to free stuff on the web (go! fight! X3). unfortunately, you may want to take some precaution as some wap links end up with a "page not found" or "this product is not supported by your phone…or something like that" errors abound, currently.  i would like to believe that this is because they busy working for the best….here's hoping!

there is also a site that will let you download a game for free. BUT the catch? it's an AD RETRIEVER, which means that when you launch the game on your mobile, it has to connect to the web server to retrieve ads.  nasty trick if yuo're gonna ask me and i don't recommend it especially if you are under a subscription plan and a hardcore gamer. you may want to throw the phone to a wall when you receive the next bill.

as for the free wallpapers, you will definitely need a usb cable if you decide to use this site as it mostlay has NO direct downloads or a wap site.

for a hardcore SONY ERICCSON user, this has got to be the best site i have seen.  has all the basics covered.  smooth interface and very user-friendly.  it makes me think of switching back to an SE phone.

lastly, here is  a site, that has a lot of potential for newbies and currently has a lot of really, really juicy stuff, especially for Nokia users like me (i have a 6070). what's even cooler is that it highlights (actually drwas a square around it) the file that you can download because it matches your phone specifications.  this was the only site i found that can give/show a lot about a certain software before you actually download it, thereby NOT WASTING your energy, money or time.  besides the reviews portion (don't EVER FORGET to read!) on the bottom part, it has usually more than one type of file available for a certain download, depending on your phone specifications, thus increasing your chances of fishing for a prized catch.  this was also THE site that generated the most search results ever for a recently produced phone like mine. hell, most of you may be using the site already!

as a post script  here are a couple of other links that will keep you busy as you hunt for your dream mobile software/game/stuff:

words are hard to come by

October 30, 2006

having trouble reading an e-mail from a friend from another country who speaks a different language?

or maybe you want to make it easier for them to read your e-mails?

a freshman with lots of assignments in the course of linguistics?

here's a shortcut i've been using pretty long enough to know that it is reliable, almost to the dot!

www.freetranslation.com

they have an ONLINE FREE TEXT TRANSLATOR that can translate ENGLISH TO and FROM any of the  11 languages that it currently supports.

they also provide services for translating documents, website and professional translation, and FREE CURRENCY CONVERSION for ALL internationally recognized currencies.

so the next time you try and communicate with a Chinese friend through e-mail, and your e-mail client or browser can't do the job for you….you might wanna give this a try.

Check it out!
